About the Newberg Boat Club, Founded in 1946
The Newberg Boat Club (NBC) is a family oriented, nonprofit organization, involved in water recreation, boating safety, and support of environmental and water concerns. The Newberg Boat Club welcomes boat owners, non-boat owners, swimmers, non-swimmers, families, singles, and members of all ages.
Community Projects
- Yearly, we meet at Rogers Landing to clean it up prior to the Boat Races and boating season.
- We contribute to the Newberg Fire Department, to assist with equipment to respond to water emergencies with their Emergency Rescue Boat and Dive Team.
- We have contributed to Chehalem Park and Recreation to assist with Bleachers for Jaquith Park.
- We have adopted the portion of the Willamette River from Ash Island to Champoeg Park.
- We hold Boating Safety Days at Rogers Landing to promote safe boats and boating.
- We contribute to Yamhill County Parks to assist with keeping our Parks, and especially Rogers Landing as clean and as useful to the public as possible.
- We advocate at the local (city and county), state and federal level for Recreational Boaters.
- We contribute to various community charities and scholarships, such as Grad nights and People to People.
Memorial Weekend Boat Races
Our “Big Event” each year is sponsorship of our Annual Memorial Weekend Boat Races, at Rogers Landing.
Club Activities
Each month, we hold a general membership meeting, usually on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at First Federal Savings and Loan’s Community Room at Hancock and College Streets in Newberg, at 7:30 pm (July, May and December are the exceptions.) In addition we try to hold some type of entertainment meeting monthly, including Activities such as river cruises, hikes, barn dances, hay rides, bowling, swimming, picnics, campouts and trips to various museums.
